We've all heard about Governor Spitzer's plan to allow illegal immigrants to get drivers license and all the people, in and out of government, who are against it. The Republican's have done something about it by filing a lawsuit to try and stop the legislation. I wanted to try and localize the story a little so I called the office of Senator David Valesky, who is a Democrat, to ask how the new plan would effect Central New York. I talked to the Chief of Senator Valesky's Staff, Cort Ruddy, and he told me that the plan would really have no benefit or real impact for Central New York. This is what made it into the story, what he also talked about, that I couldn't fit into the story, was that Valesky's office felt that it was a Federal issue. He really stressed this point, he put in that it was great that the Governor was thinking on a national level, but made sure that I knew the issue was a Federal one and one that has to be looked at on a national level. I also couldn't fit in that he voted for stricter licensing policies in September, which was essentially against the Governor of the same party. One last thing was that didn't get in was that Ruddy said that Valesky had no comment on the actual lawsuit.
Over all I think the newscast went really well. Even with the problem with the cart everyone recovered well!

I'm still amazed at how well you did at the end too!...filling up the time with the reminder about Daylight Savings Time was brilliant.
