On Election Day, I went to the Spaghetti Supper and the polling place at the Goldstein Student Center. At the Spaghetti Supper I had a difficult time finding people to talk to. I ended up talking to a lot of volunteers for the event. I found out that many of the volunteers are members of Our Lady of Pompei church. Some of them have been volunteering for years. Tom Magnarelli, Bill Magnarelli's brother, is a member of the chuch and attended Our Lady of Pompei school. Magnarelli has been volunteering at the event for over 15 years. Magnarelli told me that the Spaghetti Supper is a tradition for his family.
I also spoke with Nick Pirro, the former county executive. Pirro had a lot of supporting words for Joanie Mahoney. He said that Mahoney brings the best energy and ideas to the campaign. Pirro hopes the next county governor takes advantage of the existing county government and helps it to progress foward.
Later on Election Day, I went to the Goldstein Student Center on South Campus. I was able to speak to a few young voters about their opinions. One voter thought this was a primary election. She was hoping to vote for either Hilary Clinton or Barack Obama. She was suprised to not recognize any of the names on the ballot but voted in favor of her party.
