The pigs, llamas, and mini ponies enthusiastically gobble food pellets out of tiny hands while patiently enduring clumsy little hands poking their faces. Across from the petting zoo, excited squeals of children playing pirates on a large wooden boat-shaped play set echo across the grounds.

The 25-animal petting zoo and play sets are just a couple of the many attractions housed at family owned Critz Farms is Cazenovia. The farm also boasts a ten acre corn maze, hay rides, and a pick-your-own pumpkin patch.

The farm's Fall Harvest Festival attracts visitors from all over the state. During the weekends, Critz Farms is also the setting for live music and agricultural demonstrations.

Although Critz Farms had few visitors this afternoon, the place is bursting with people on the weekends.

Klaudia Salmon, who, along with her three young kids, was among the small weekday crowd, said she thinks Critz Farms provides a great opportunity to spend time with her family.

"It's a perfect fall activity," she said. "Just make memories for when they are older, and help them learn about things they wouldn't learn about unless they came out here."

The Fall Harvest Festival opened last weekend, and runs through October. Adult admission is five dollars, and acts as a season pass.
